Greater Sudbury Lacrosse Association - The Sudbury Rockhounds

About This Group

It is speculated that Lacrosse's roots go as far back as the 1700's, thanks to the native tribes. This energetic sport is as exciting to watch as it is to play.

The GSLA offers a few programs to accomodate many age groups. As the popularity of the sport grew, Laurentian University students also joined the league therefore creating another interesting opportunity to play.

Greater Sudbury Lacrosse Association considers everyone a Rockhound no matter what age, gender, residence or any other status.  Their values of inclusion are truly unique, as their association does not represent any of the former communities or neighbourhoods in the amalgamated city.  Participation from communities outside of Greater Sudbury is encouraged.

The GSLA instills fairness, sportsmanship, respect and citizenship.  It is entrenched in their Constitution.  It keeps the essence of the sport at the forefront and teached youth the necessary life skills.  Not only is the game of Lacrosse a physical one, but it is a mental one as well, where one has to control their emotions and grow in a team environment.

Part of being a Rockhound is the idea of giving back to the game. Players with more experience or ability are encouraged to step up and take on leadership roles on their assigned house league team. It is an excellent way to foster skill and improvement, and keep players challenged.

Laurentian U is starting their own league, with an intermural league to follow. Catch the lacross fever!
